Restrictive covenants

Does your contract contain unreasonable restrictions?

Have you breached your covenants?

Your contract of employment may contain terms that restrict what you can do after you leave.

Restrictive covenants often relate to:

  • contacting customers
  • setting up direct competition
  • using or disclosing confidential information
  • staff poaching.

If your employer wants you to enforce a restrictive covenant against you and they apply to the High Court for an injunction, you will need good legal advice and representation.

If restrictive they are too onerous or badly drafted it is possible to have them voided.

Myers & Co in Staffordshire have specialist employment solicitors who can examine your contractual terms and advise where you stand and what you are permitted to do. We can contact your employer on your behalf to come to a negotiated agreement but if that does not work we can also represent you at court. Where the restrictive covenants are deemed unfair, the court could overturn them.

Based in Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire, our specialist employment solicitors offer independent legal advice and representation on all types of employment law problems. To find out more, contact our employment law solicitors or call 01782 577000.
