We believe it is much better to be up front about legal costs at the outset rather than leave it until later when it might be a nasty surprise. That is why we have collected all of the services that we can give fixed-cost estimates for onto this page, so that you can find them easily.
For some services (like conveyancing) we can provide you with a fixed quote, but the quote does depend on a lot of different factors. This link takes you to our conveyancing quote generator; all you have to do is put the information in and it will give you a quote in seconds, complete with all the expenses and charges that you will need to pay (subject to our terms and conditions).
For wills and probate, our current charges are as follows as at 15 November 2023 (note that mileage fees may be payable for home visits, together with the fee for electronic identification; our charges are also subject to our terms and conditions);
- Single will: £225 plus £45 VAT (£270)
- Pair of mirror wills: £350 plus £70 VAT (£420)
- Single will with trust: £350 plus £70 VAT ( £420)
- Pair of mirror wills with trust: £475 plus £95 VAT (£570)
- Single will with discretionary trust and letter of wishes £400 plus £80 VAT (£480)
- Pair of mirror wills with discretionary trust and letter of wishes £650 plus £130 VAT (£780)
- Single codicil £150 plus £30 VAT (£180)
- Pair of mirror codicils £200 plus £40 VAT (£240)
- Severance of joint tenancy £75 plus £15 VAT (£90)
- Transfer of property to joint names £350 plus £70 VAT (£420)
- First registration of unregistered property £400 plus £80 VAT (£480)
- Home visit £50 plus £10 VAT (£60)
- Mileage fees £0.50 per mile
- Single person, one power of attorney £375 plus £75 VAT (£450)
- Single person, two powers of attorney £600 plus £120 VAT (£720)
- Couple, 1 power of attorney each £600 plus £120 VAT (£720)
- Couple, 2 powers of attorney each £950 plus £190 VAT (£1,140)
- Grant of probate only IHT205 £1,000 plus £200 VAT (£1,200)
- Grant of probate only IHT400 £2,250 plus £450 VAT (£2,700)
