At Myers & Co, we believe in supporting the local community and causes that make a positive difference in people’s lives. We are delighted to announce our partnership with the University Hospitals of North Midlands (UHNM) Charity, and specifically their “Forget Me Not” initiative.
The Forget Me Not Suites and the specialist bereavement midwives who work there, Sarah Lake and Caroline Birchall, provide support to bereaved parents who have endured the loss of a pregnancy or a baby at UHNM. Anyone who has been through the trauma of losing a little one will know how vital this service is, and how proper support can make a real difference at a difficult time.
The “Forget Me Not” initiative is a project born from the requests of bereaved parents. The project aims to improve the facilities by creating a serene outdoor space at Royal Stoke University Hospital, to serve as a place of contemplation and solace for families and staff alike at a time when they are at their most vulnerable, which will feature a statue of a forget-me-not flower at its heart.
Speaking on Myers’ commitment to UHMN Charity and the “Forget Me Not” initiative, Sarah O’Reily fundraising officer for UHMN said:
“The entire team is delighted to partner with local solicitors, Myers & Co, for their exciting fundraising efforts this year. As UHMN Charity is their chosen charity of the year, the firm is supporting the Forget Me Not Suites and the Bereavement Midwives who work there, as well as the families who need their services. I know several colleagues who have personally benefited from this service.
It is heart warming to see them want to give back and support others in their local community. We are very much looking forward to engaging with their employees, supporting, and participating in their fundraising activities throughout this financial year. Together, we aim to enhance patient care at UHNM by helping to fund a statue and a contemplation area for all who have experienced pregnancy and baby loss at UHNM Trust.”
The UHNM Charity is the dedicated charity of the University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust. They play a vital role in supporting the staff at Royal Stoke University Hospital and County Hospital in Stafford, enabling them to deliver exceptional care to over three million people from Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire, and beyond. Through collaboration with local communities, schools, and businesses, the charity raises millions of pounds each year. These funds are allocated towards state-of-the-art equipment, patient comfort enhancements, and critical life-saving research.
Speaking on Myers & Co’s commitment to UHMN, Tim Newsome, the managing director, said:
“We are committed to supporting UHNM and the ‘Forget Me Not’ project as our chosen charity throughout the year ahead, not only through financial contributions but also by embodying our values of empathy, community support, and making a positive difference. This project will create a meaningful space which will be a sanctuary that brings comfort to many, and we are honoured to be part of its realisation.”
As we embark on this journey as a firm, we encourage our clients, partners, and the wider community to join us in supporting the UHNM Charity. Together, we can ensure that the “Forget Me Not” project and the wider UHMN receives the backing it deserves, helping to bring comfort and peace to those who need it most.
